We are excited to announce a strategic partnership with Aqaba Digital Hub for future operations of AqabaIX powered by DE-CIX. AqabaIX is a neutral Internet Exchange on the shores of the Red Sea and part of a landmark project for modern digital transformation in Jordan, as well as in the Middle East and North African region.
Supporting local interconnection
A contributor to around 75 percent of Arabic content on the Internet, and an educational hub for the ICT sector, Jordan has an active tech and startup scene. Located on the Gulf of Aqaba, an arm of the Red Sea, AqabaIX is strategically situated at the crossroads between multiple Middle Eastern countries and is also home to a submarine cable landing station. The new interconnection platform will serve as a new option for data flows between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe and will support local interconnection through high-quality services.
The existing AqabaIX infrastructure – which currently connects 13 networks and has over 100 Gbps of peak traffic, will be upgraded to the DE-CIX Apollon interconnection infrastructure and operated by DE-CIX under the DE-CIX as a Service model. Technical implementation is planned for the end of 2022.
